Cafe Light Block Grant
Have you noticed an increase in cafe lights strung throughout the peninsula? Not only do they look great and create a sense of community, they also supplement the streetlights to increase the safety of the residents. While numerous blocks have taken the initiative to install the cafe lights already, there are many more blocks who could benefit from adding them.

As residents and business owners that love the neighborhoods that make up the South Baltimore Peninsula, Key Group of Cummings & Co. Realtors is proud to announce a one-time $1,000 community grant to help one community-minded block have cafe lights installed by Chris Broughton. Chris has been lighting up blocks for years and is the go-to installer of cafe lights in the neighborhoods surrounding the harbor.
Cafe Light FAQs
How to apply for the grant:
- Select a Block Captain – Someone who will coordinate the process for your block.
- Knock on Every Door – Find out who wants to participate including financially (avg. $125 per home). We put together a helpful **Word Document Template** for you to use to help reach out to your neighbors and collect interest in the lighting.
- Contact Chris Broughton – Reach out to Chris for an on-site consultation once you have at least 7 consecutive neighbors who want to participate. You can reach him by text 410-241-4696 or via Facebook direct message at @ChrisBroughton.
- Submit Your Application – A completed grant application will have the names and addresses of neighbors who are committed to having the lights installed and an estimate from Chris Broughton. All applications are due by August 31st 2024, in order to be considered for the grant. **Click Here to Apply for Grant**
Key Group will review all of the applications and will decide the grant recipient by September 6th, 2024. The block who receives the grant will be required to sign an agreement with Chris Broughton by September 30th, 2024. Once the agreement has been signed, Key Group will supply Chris Broughton a check for $1,000 to be applied towards your installation. The recipient will be responsible for any costs over $1,000.
